A vegetable oil packed with essential fatty acids for maintaining healthy skin, coats, and joints.

Flax Oil, also known as linseed oil, is obtained from the gentle cold pressing of the dried ripe seed of the flax plant. The resulting product is packed with essential fatty acids, particularly omega 3 but also some omega 6. These essential fatty acids are important for maintaining basic cellular health, coat conditioning and supporting joint health, yet horses cannot produce them naturally, meaning a supplement becomes necessary.

Flax oil has been shown to have numerous health benefits for horses. These include:

  • Sustaining basic cellular health; essential fatty acids maintain cell form and function, which are responsible for helping the body perform many biological functions
  • Maintaining a healthy coat and skin; dry or dull coats can benefit from fatty acids which help with a healthy coat texture, making for a full and shiny appearance
  • Supporting joint health and mobility, especially for horses who experience stiffness. Flax Oil has been shown to help manage the build-up of lactic acid in muscles, which is a common cause of fatigue in performance horses
  • Sustaining a healthy circulatory system.

Regularly used worldwide, Omega Flax Oil is loved by both leisure and professionals such as competition rider Nicola McGiven. Omega Equine’s 100% pure cold pressed Flax Oil is produced daily at UK factories, with no heat or extraction chemicals. This ensures the product retains all of its goodness, so when it reaches your horse, it will be perfectly fresh.

Flax Oil, is obtained from the gentle cold pressing of the dried ripe seed of the flax plant. Of all vegetable oils, Flax oil (or Linseed Oil) has the highest levels of Omega-3 fatty acids. The Omega-3 acid in Flax Oil (ALA), has been shown in research to help tackle stiffness, the circulatory system and aid ability to fend off immune disorders, making it ideal as a nutritional supplement. Horses diets have changed over the years as much as human diets have, and Omega-3 and 6 are not always as balanced as they should be, many contain high levels of cereals or added vegetable oils, which are high in Omega-6. Any imbalance can affect the general well-being of your horse. The essential fatty acids (EFA) contained in Flax Oil ensures basic cellular health, and is important to the health of our horses as vitamins and minerals. EFAs help cells form and function correctly and they are responsible for helping the body perform biological functions. Your horse cannot produce EFAs in their body, so it is essential that they get them through the diet. Flax Oil will not only improve your horses coat and produce a gorgeous shine, but it can also help with skin problems, Linseed Oil has even be shown to help with Sweet Itch. Flax Oil has been shown to reduce the build-up of lactic acid in muscles, which is a common cause of fatigue in performance horses, our Flax Oil is regularly used by top competition riders such as Nicola McGiven. Research has indicated that supplementing a horse daily with Flax Oil will, over time, have a beneficial effect on horses with stiff joints, helping mobility.
